The online graduation ceremony of the Progressive Ukraine Programme, organised within the Open Progressive University (OPU), took place this week at the European Parliament in Brussels. The ceremony was organised by the Foundation for European Progressive Studies (FEPS), in cooperation with the S&D Group in the European Parliament and the Max van der Stoel Foundation (FMS).

As many as 25 young Ukrainian students, who successfully completed this unique e-learning programme, were highlighted. The programme is designed to empower progressive young people, and increase their involvement in the future of Ukraine and its European course.

Through comprehensive modules on topics including the war against Ukraine, the reconstruction of the country, future EU enlargement and Ukraine's preparation for EU membership, students obtained in-depth expertise, academic training and great networking opportunities.

The online ceremony was led by Ania Skrzypek, and further featured keynote contributions from Iratxe García Pérez, president of the S&D Group in the European Parliament, Uwe Optenhögel, vice-president of FEPS, and Kido Koenig, director of the Max van der Stoel Foundation.

The ceremony marked not only the successful completion of an academic track by these students, but also the continued commitment of FMS and its partner organisations to strengthening progressive knowledge exchange, leadership and democratic resilience in Ukraine. Partly through this project, we remain in solidarity with the Ukrainian people and support Ukraine's full independence, sovereignty and shared future.
