Africa Day, organised by FMS and the European think tank FEPS, has been the leading event bringing Africa to the Netherlands for over 30 years. With around 1,000 visitors, speakers and volunteers, and 40 partner organisations, it is the largest public event on Africa and international cooperation in the Netherlands.
The day will feature workshops, talks, discussions, films and music. Through this event, we aim to provide a platform for African voices and to bring together citizens, politicians and NGOs to discuss a new partnership between Africa and Europe based on equality.
Africa Day 2026 will take place on Saturday 21 November 2026 at Pakhuis de Zwijger in Amsterdam. This year, the day is dedicated to The Future is Here: Africa’s future as something that is already happening, not as a promise for later.

This year, Africa Day is dedicated to The Future Is Here: Africa’s future as something that is already happening, not as a promise for later. As in previous years, there will once again be a varied programme of workshops, talks, interesting debates and discussions. But we can’t make this fantastic day a success without your help!

A Look Back at Africa Day 2025: A New Global Order
On Saturday 15 November 2025, Pakhuis de Zwijger was transformed into a vibrant meeting place for anyone with a passion for Africa and development cooperation.
Young and old, international and Dutch, seasoned Africa Day visitors and first-time guests came together to talk and learn from and with one another. After all, what does it mean when African countries demand a greater say on the world stage? How does this change the way we think about cooperation, empowerment and justice?
