The Foundation Max van der Stoel (FMS) is an independent foreign affairs foundation affiliated to the PvdA (the Dutch Labour Party). We are committed to promote democratisation in the EU's neighbouring countries, and fairer Dutch and EU policies towards developing countries. Furthermore, we stimulate public debate on these issues in the Netherlands.
The FMS operates from a small-scale organisation of permanent staff and trainees. Our board has seven members, each with their own connection to our regions and themes.
