Three years after the Russian invasion of Ukraine, uncertainty remains high. Although there are talks of a possible ceasefire at the urging of Donald Trump, the war continues and the consequences remain dire. Millions of Ukrainians, both inside and outside the country, have gone through hard times. Their voices must play a central role in reconstruction so that it does justice to their experiences.
Ukrainian women in particular must be given a greater role in reconstruction. They are indispensable in humanitarian aid, keeping communities running and the economy running, but are still too little involved in key decisions. Their perspectives and needs must be included in the country's recovery. This is not only fair, but necessary for a strong and just future for Ukraine.
