Vacancy: Communications & Events trainee

We are committed to promoting greater democracy and fair politics in the EU’s neighbouring countries and the Global South. Together with political parties, civil society organisations and international partners, we work to promote greater political participation, fair policy-making and a stronger public debate. We do this through training courses, publications, campaigns and events such as political cafés, webinars and international meetings.

This internship focuses on raising the profile of the new international foundation. You will contribute to communication and promotion activities relating to projects, meetings and events, both nationally and internationally. You will not only assist with the organisation, but will also be given the opportunity to take the initiative and develop your own ideas. In this way, you will gain broad experience in communication and event organisation within an international environment.

PRO’s new international foundation is a merger of the Max van der Stoel Foundation and the GroenLinks International Foundation. The international foundation is affiliated with PRO but operates independently. With an internship in autumn 2026, you will be part of the first cohort of interns in this new organisation! The new foundation will continue the work of both organisations.

What will you do? 

• You will assist with the communication of our projects and campaigns, including writing and posting social media content;
• You will keep track of our social media channels and help think of new formats to expand our reach;
• You will write articles, interviews or promotional texts for our website, newsletter or partners;
• You will help organise events such as political forums, webinars, conferences, etc.;
• You will help with the logistics, communication and content-related preparation of events (e.g. visuals, liaising with speakers and guests, promotion);
• You will actively contribute ideas on ways to raise the foundation’s profile among politicians, partners and the general public.

Who are we looking for? 

• You have a passion for politics and international cooperation;
• You have an open, communicative attitude and enjoy thinking creatively;
• You enjoy writing and have an excellent command of Dutch and English;
• You can process information quickly and turn it into accessible content;
• You’re at home on social media and ideally have some experience with Canva or similar tools;
• You enjoy organising events or learning more about them;
• You can work independently and keep an overview in a dynamic working environment.

We understand that you may not have all the knowledge yet, and you don't have to. Motivation and room for development are most important. We encourage everyone - all backgrounds, M/F/X, much or less experience - to apply.

What do we offer? 

• An internship running from September to January, four days a week (32 hours).
• Working in a small, close-knit team;
• Intensive guidance, regular feedback moments and space for your own learning goals;
• An internship allowance of €750 per month;
• Flexible working hours and opportunities to work partly from home.
