PRO International (the new international foundation of Progressief Nederland) works with people and organisations worldwide who are committed to democracy, human rights, the climate and solidarity.

We believe that international cooperation only works if it is based on equality. That is why we work together with progressive political parties, civil society organisations and changemakers. Not in a top-down manner, but through partnership and reciprocity. Together, we develop initiatives that contribute to fair politics, stronger climate policy and more just societies. We do this through training programmes, publications, campaigns and events such as political cafés, webinars and international meetings.

This internship focuses on raising the profile of the new international foundation. You will contribute to communication and promotion activities relating to projects, meetings and events, both nationally and internationally. You will not only assist with the organisation, but will also be given the opportunity to take the initiative and develop your own ideas. In this way, you will gain broad experience in communication and event organisation within an international environment.

PRO International is a merger of the Max van der Stoel Foundation and the GroenLinks International Foundation. The international foundation is affiliated with PRO but operates independently. With an internship in the autumn of 2026, you’ll be part of the first cohort of interns in this new organisation! The new foundation will continue the work of both organisations.

What will you do? 

• You turn international political issues into compelling social media content;
• You will write articles, interviews, newsletters and web content on international politics and cooperation;
• You organise political cafés, webinars, conferences and international events;
• You will help with the preparation of events (promotion, visuals, liaising with speakers and guests);
• You’ll play an active part in devising ways to raise PRO International’s profile amongst a wider audience.
  
  

Who are we looking for? 

• You have a passion for politics and international cooperation;
• You have an open, communicative attitude and enjoy thinking creatively;
• You enjoy writing and have an excellent command of Dutch and English;
• You can process information quickly and turn it into accessible content;
• You’re at home on social media and ideally have some experience with Canva or similar tools;
• You enjoy organising events or learning more about them;
• You can work independently and keep an overview in a dynamic working environment.

We understand that you may not have all the knowledge yet, and you don't have to. Motivation and room for development are most important. We encourage everyone - all backgrounds, M/F/X, much or less experience - to apply.

What do we offer? 

• An internship running from September to January, four days a week (32 hours).
• Working in a small, close-knit team;
• Intensive guidance, regular feedback moments and space for your own learning goals;
• An internship allowance of €750 per month;
• Flexible working hours and opportunities to work partly from home.
